When I think about trying to remember when we first moved in with my Granny Holland, I think about 6th grade and playing kick ball. I am sure we learned something in 6th grade but my biggest memory is KICKBALL!!! All the teams made their own team shirts. If memory serves me, I was on Tillery's Team, Mrs. Tillery. I am going to have to reach out to classmates and see if they remember the Team name... Tillery's Titans, Tigers, Trojans lol.
I spoke to a few and we are trying to find some pictures. One remembers their team name and another didn't. The memory is a strange thing. We can store things and pull them out many, many, years later. Then at other times we have no recall. There are traumas, health issues, medication, etc that affect our memory. Sometimes it's a matter of self preservation that we forget some memories.
In writing this book, I have found all of these examples have affected my memory. But in going along I can tell more and more is coming. Healing is happening in me just by getting out my thoughts on paper and sharing them with others. My goal of using my life to help others is happening and I am so thankful God allowed me to be able to do this project. I truly believe this is the beginning of many things that He has planned.
Wow, 6th grade it was a growth time and time of changes. I actually began having my monthly cycle in 6th grade. When it happened it scared me to death. My mom never explained any of this to me. After it began that is when she did. Please moms and dads, talk to your children about these things before hand. I know it's difficult but it's necessary for the healthy mindset of your child. Do it in stages. Love your child enough not to be uncomfortable and sit them down, give them the information they need. Trust me it's way harder on them to learn from their friends or learn after the fact.
I recall I got my first bras in 6th grade too. Never give a young girl a blue print bra to wear under a light yellow shirt. I was so embarrassed the first day wearing one. All my friends at school pointed it out and picked and joked with me about it. It wasn't funny to me. I guess it kinda is now. Kids can be cruel.
6th grade and moving in with Granny Holland was definitely a time of change for me. Like where I am in my personal life right now. Change can be hard but it is definitely is inevitable. It's best to do it in gradual steps if you can. Remaining open minded while you are going through the process is always best. That is definitely my game plan currently.
