Mother’s Transformation

Updated: Apr 17, 2022

When mother got home from the 30 day ICU stay and from being on the brink of death, she had to start a whole new way of being. She had to learn how to walk again, she had to cope with being an alcoholic, and she had to heal her mind. This was a difficult time for us both. I was now truly the parent in all sense and purpose.

Mother no longer had her own apartment but now she lived with me. In less than just 2 short years, I went from being on my own to back living together with my mom at 19. It was a hard thing to do but I did it! My life as you know was difficult with my mother. So many times I had to be rescued from her abuse now I was rescuing her.

I didn’t see it then but this would be a lesson for my strength in the future. Mother was my first alchemy project so to speak! Wow I have always been a transmuter! It’s amazing now to realize this!

I had to have a sitter for mother so I could work. Thank goodness several of my siblings helped me with that. Mother fought learning to walk again. She really wanted us to do it for her but we stood firm. It took time but she did walk again! I kept alcohol away from mother and she stopped drinking except for a few short falls off the wagon but eventually conquered alcoholism.

The next thing was to get her strength and mind back so she could care for herself and be back on her on again. It was a long hard road but we got there but it took years.
